Sound Of Speed Circles

A 9 track leftfield/idm album (1h 9m 6s) — released July 19th 2010 on Sound Of Speed

Japanese label Soundofspeed issue a fantastic label compilation featuring various artists on their roster, entitled Circles. Tokyo-based owner Yamazaki Hiro started out in the party promotion game, putting on Tokyo shows for figures such as Claude Young, Adam Freeland, DJ Hell, Jimpster, Plaid and Tom Middleton. In 2000, he then used these connections to launch the Soundofspeed imprint with an album from Jimpster, entitled Live at Soundofspeed, before going on to release material from Cable, EBZ and Luke Vibert. Vibert and Hiro first met at the Big Chill festival on the Greek island of Naxos in '01, and since then they've been good friends, with Vibert producing a hip-hop album for the label two years ago. On Circles, he contributes lone track "Majacid", which as you can imagine, features plenty of TB-303 action, while My My's Lee Jones offers up two melodic minimal house cuts. All of these are currently available on the first vinyl sampler, while the second features two collaborations between Kuniyuki and Cushty, and tracks from Shur-i-kan and Alucidnation. The only non-exclusive tracks on the release come from Jimpster's Freerange label, and he's handed over the Dirt Crew remix of his own "Seventh Wave" and Henrik Schwarz's take on Switch's "Get On Downz" to fill out the CD package.
